Senegalese striker El Hadji Diouf has invited former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha to a musical concert and an exhibition match proposed for Dakar with the popular rap artist Akon as the rallying theme.
Okocha, who is now based in Qatar, was a team mate of the immensely endowed but erratic Diouf at Bolton.
Also listed for the occasion is the freshly re-elected Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, who is gathered is in support of the project and has graciously accepted to be the ceremonial match referee.
THISDAYSports learnt yesterday that list of high profile players on the invitation include the three-time African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto' O, Nicolas Anelka, Abedi Pele and Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce.
The football match and concert, scheduled for Dakar on June 29 and June 30 respectively, is aimed to raise funds for hospitals as well as handicap and indigent children.
A source close to Okocha revealed last night that the former Eagles star has accepted to grace the occasion because he sees it as a worthy cause.
Okocha will feature in Friends of Diouf side to comprise Anelka, Eto' O, Pele, and Senegalese internationals Khalilou Fadiga and Alassane Ndour among a host of players.Football crazy Akon, who is now an American citizen but who was physically present in Egypt to root for Senegal at last year's Nations Cup finals, is also billed to name his side that will battle against the Diouf selection.
American rap artist Snoop Dogg, who performed in Nigeria last year at the THISDAY Musical Show, is also listed to perform at the concert.
That's KONVICT!!!!!!!!
